As the Development Lead, Vasco supervises engineering and development for the Immersive Learning Experience team. Vasco was always passionate about games, he grew up playing games not only as a form of entertainment but also as a mean to learn, from languages to new technologies. It was also through games that he developed his interest in computers and computer science, and later he understood that this was his true vocation. For 6 years now, Vasco has been creating games with different genres on multiple platforms. As a full-stack developer Vasco mainly uses Unity, Play, Rider, C#, Java, JS, MySQL and Oculus. Vasco started his journey as a game developer while he was still studying. He started a project on his free time, which later became an internet sensation with Youtubers and Streamers, having hundreds of thousands of gameplay videos with more than 50 million accumulated views. This project also became the focus of his MSc’s dissertation where he used biofeedback to control the different game mechanics. Vasco co-authored several papers derived from his dissertation. After finishing his MSc in Computer Software Engineering he quickly joined a studio where he created an original title and maintained a couple others. Soon after, he was invited to join Adtalem and be one of ILX’s first members. He was able to learn more about GBL and coupling it with his gaming experience he helped design and create several games for different platforms across various institutions. In 2017 he became a Certified Scrum Master and was appointed Development Lead. Vasco is an avid gamer, does CrossFit, loves nature, traveling and also has a passion for musical instruments, his last challenge was to learn piano by himself. He also has a quest to visit all 7 continents, and he’s almost half-way through. |
